Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 was shot down minutes after takeoff from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran on 8 January 2020 (18 Dey 1398). The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired two surface-to-air missiles at a civilian aircraft. Transport Canada states that all 176 passengers and crew were killed, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents. Iran International's later Farsi reporting on the families' case uses 177 for the same disaster. This note keeps Canada's figure for the aircraft and treats the one-person difference as a counting convention, not a second crash. Catalog PS752 and "Ukrainian plane" titles are gathered here. They are not filed under Lion & Sun Revolution, even when a catalog string mentions both.12

The downing

The flight left for Kyiv in the early morning. Iranian authorities first offered other explanations, then admitted the missiles. Officials later spoke of "human error" by an operator. Families and the Association of Families of Flight PS752 have rejected that narrowing. Iran International records their position that the IRGC's firing was deliberate, and that a later Ontario ruling on the airline's duty to passengers does not lift responsibility from the Islamic Republic or the Guard. In Tir 1402, Canada, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine took Iran to the International Court of Justice. Hamed Esmailion, speaking for the families, also pursued a file at the International Civil Aviation Organization.21

Canada's forensic team concluded that Iranian civilian and military authorities were responsible through their actions and omissions. Iran led the technical investigation as the state of occurrence. Canada told ICAO that Iran's March 2021 final report left critical questions unanswered.1

Families and the street

After the admission, people gathered in Tehran and other cities. Families were pressed over burials, language, and "martyr" status. The Tehran military court later sentenced ten armed-forces members in a closed process. The Association of Families said that court was not a reckoning. This archive holds shootdown and memorial items, including PS752 shootdown and a mixed Lion and Sun revolution (PS752 protests) title. That mixed title is treated as a PS752 item, not as a Lion & Sun alias.

Crash, shootdown, and PS752 memorial labels are gathered here, including commemorations that also name Yasuj flight victims when the catalog title is built around PS752.
