Biography
Fereshteh Ahmadi was a 32-year-old photographer and mother of two children, Bavan and Miran, who was killed by direct gunfire from Iranian security forces during protests in Mahabad on October 27, 2022. Although the government claimed she was shot inside her home, her family refuted this narrative, confirming she was killed during the demonstrations. The image of her young daughter, Bavan, crying and clutching the soil of her mother's grave in Hamzehabad village became a global symbol of the human cost of the state's crackdown.
