جعفر جاویدی در ۱۸ دیماه ۱۴۰۴ در مشهد کشته شد. او مقابل کلانتری هفتتیر، بر اثر شلیک گلوله از پشت توسط ماموران جمهوری اسلامی جان باخت. گلوله هفت سانتیمتر بدن او را سوراخ کرده بود. مرگ او در جریان جنبش انقلابی شیر و خورشید رخ داد.
