Biography
Pouya Bakhtiari was a young man killed by a gunshot to the head during the November 2019 nationwide protests in Mehrshahr, Karaj. He died in the presence of his mother, Nahid Shirpisheh, who along with his father, Manouchehr Bakhtiari, has been imprisoned for seeking justice for their son. His death and his family's subsequent struggle have made him a prominent symbol of the Iranian protest movement.
پویا بختیاری از جانباختگان اعتراضات آبان ۱۳۹۸ است که در مهرشهر کرج بر اثر اصابت گلوله به سر در مقابل چشمان مادرش کشته شد. پس از کشته شدن او، والدینش، ناهید شیرپیشه و منوچهر بختیاری، به دلیل دادخواهی و ایستادگی بر مواضع خود بازداشت و به حبسهای طولانیمدت محکوم شدند. نام پویا بختیاری و تلاش خانوادهاش او را به یکی از نمادهای برجسته جنبشهای اعتراضی ایران تبدیل کرده است.
