Biography
Navid Afkari was an Iranian wrestler who was arrested for his participation in the August 2018 protests in Shiraz. He was charged with various offenses, including enmity against God and the murder of a security agent, and sentenced to two death penalties, prison, and flogging. Afkari was executed at the age of 27 on September 12, 2020, in Adel Abad Prison, Shiraz. He was reportedly executed suddenly, without a final meeting with his family and seemingly unaware that his execution was imminent.
نوید افکاری، کشتیگیر ایرانی، به دلیل شرکت در اعتراضات مرداد ۱۳۹۷ در شیراز دستگیر شد. او به اتهاماتی از جمله محاربه و قتل یک مأمور امنیتی محکوم و به دو بار اعدام، حبس و شلاق محکوم شد. افکاری در تاریخ ۲۲ شهریور ۱۳۹۹، در سن ۲۷ سالگی، در زندان عادلآباد شیراز اعدام شد. گزارش شده است که او به طور ناگهانی و بدون دیدار آخر با خانوادهاش و بدون اطلاع از اجرای قریبالوقوع حکم اعدام، جان باخت.
